Tecno Pova 5 Pro: In-Depth Review

Pova 5 5G and Tecno Pova Pro 5G are two new smartphones that Tecno has introduced in India as part of the Pova Series. For review purposes, we had the opportunity to use the Tecno Pova 5 Pro model, which has a glass finish and costs less than Rs. 15,000. The brand attempted to offer the Pova 5 Pro 5G's rear panel a unique LED design, all while keeping the cost down. Although there are many differences, the Tecno Pova 5 Pro looks more expensive because of its glass-back LED design.

Additionally, the Pova 5 Pro 5G has a MediaTek 6080 CPU, a 120Hz display, a 50MP primary camera, and other features. With all these functions, the question of whether the smartphone is truly all-around or if its capabilities are merely theoretical arises. Let's explore the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G Review to learn the answer to this query.

Design Analysis of Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G: A Closer Look:

The design of the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G is fresh and distinctive. When viewed from the side of the rear panel, the smartphone has a flat appearance and appears expensive. Four LED lighting strips are located on the rear panel, three of which form a triangle and the fourth of which is a straight line in the middle. These lights function when making calls, playing music, and showing notifications. These appear appealing at that time and provide the smartphone with a fashionable appearance. The worst thing is that these smudges are too visibly obvious, which makes the glass back rear panel a smudge magnet.

Although it has a metal frame and a flat appearance, the item feels hefty because of its 214-gram weight. These days, the majority of cell phones weigh less than 200 grams, thus this one feels weighty. Although it doesn't seem particularly heavy in your hands, the weight may have been somewhat decreased.

Exploring the Arc Interface: Features and Functionality:

Tecno has given the lighting strips at the back the name Arc Interface. While charging, making calls, etc., these lights blink in various colored patterns. Backlight effects can be selected from the options menu to vary the colors. When examined indoors, they were brilliant, but when checked outdoors, they appeared faded 4.

Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G: Display Insights:

The 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD screen on the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G has a 120Hz refresh rate. Our encounter with this display was positive. Every frame has vibrant, crisp colors. Videos on Netflix and Prime Video look good even without HDR capability. Even with the color temperature set to warm, the colors still appear overly bright, but the dynamic range is also around average. However, the display is decent for a price of around 15,000.

The brightness of the display is one advantage. The screen is easily visible even in direct sunlight. The visual experience is seamless because of the 120Hz refresh rate.

Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G Camera: In Focus:

The back of the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G has two cameras. A secondary AI camera with dual flash LED lights is incorporated into the camera module, along with a 50MP primary sensor. The primary camera's photos are detailed and offer realistic colors in the daytime. The clicks in dim light are also acceptable.

The secondary lens is an AI camera, however, it lacks depth or ultrawide-angle sensors, which is a disadvantage. This camera can shoot films at 30 frames per second in 2K and 60 frames per second in Full HD, which is acceptable given the cost of the smartphone.

At the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera. I really liked how the selfie sensor keeps the skin tone as natural as possible in the default setting. For individuals who need selfies suitable for social media, there is a special option. The inside shots were also well-detailed. Even if the sharpness is inferior, the colors are lovely.

Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G Performance Analysis:

An octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6080 5G SoC made by TSMC powers the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G. The chipset guarantees smooth all-day use. I used the smartphone for calling, mailing, texting, WhatsApp media sharing, Spotify music listening, conducting benchmark tests, and more during an average workday. I had no issues with it at that time.

Speaking of gaming, the Tecno Pova 5 Pro can run any demanding game (like COD or Freefire) in medium settings. The fact that the device's temperature doesn't significantly increase even after extended gaming sessions is another benefit of this new SoC. After a 30-minute gaming session, we felt a mild warmth, which is very typical.

There are two storage capacities available: 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB.

HiOS 13.1 based on Android 13.1 is used by the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G. The device's interface differs slightly from that of other smartphones. Swiping from left to right, for instance, displays a feed with the major apps, a step counter, sharpness, and other items. Notifications may be viewed by scrolling from top to bottom on the left side, while settings can be viewed by doing the same on the right side. You will become accustomed to the interface in a matter of two to three days.

Game Space Feature is included with the Pova 5 Pro 5G as well. While gaming, you can effortlessly switch between various settings.

Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G Battery Insights:

Under the hood of the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G is a 5000mAh battery. We didn't need to charge it during the day while we were using it. Throughout the day, we used social media, games, calls, content streaming, and more. It was easily there for the entire day.

The 68W adaptor included in the box can be used to recharge the gadget if you use it frequently. The smartphone charges with this adapter from 0 to 50% in around 20 minutes and from 0 to 100% in about 50 minutes.

The battery life has been marginally extended using Tecno Battery Lab 3.0. Bypass charging allows you to recharge while playing games. The manufacturer claims that this feature charges the phone straight without using the battery. In addition, neither the battery nor the device will heat up.

Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G: Is It Worth the Purchase?

A sleek smartphone with a price tag of Rs. 15,000 is the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G. At this price point, the brand has made an effort to provide customers with a dependable chipset, a strong battery, and a fashionable design. Additionally, 5G is supported. Dimensity 6080 chipset, 120Hz display, and long battery life are all included with the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G. Despite the fact that you may feel the shortcomings of an AMOLED screen and a camera configuration with a macro/ultrawide lens. If you can look past a few minor flaws in the primary sensor, the Tecno Pova 5 Pro 5G can be your go-to option for a cheap gaming smartphone.
